The Mid-Hudson River Valley

It truly is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, a lush valley featuring mountains, lakes, and picturebook small towns abundant in history, charm, and culture. Steve and Carrie Vaccaro are both natives of the area and have made it the focus of their real estate business because they both believe it's a special place to live and work.

Many of the area towns make the must-see listings in travel magazines and guides. New Paltz's Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park draw the outdoorsy set. Rhinebeck's perfectly restored inns and shops lure history buffs and antique aficionados. And Hyde Park's Culinary Institute of America attracts foodies from around the world. However, some of the smaller waterfront towns are experiencing revivals that are putting them on the map too. In Beacon, an old Nabisco Packaging Factory is now home to the cutting-edge DIA: Beacon museum, featuring the works of contemporary art legends like Warhol, Sera, and Lewitt. Beginning in October, 2009 Poughkeepsie and Highland will be book-ending the world's longest pedestrian walkway atop an old railway bridge spanning the Hudson.

Of course, the area isn't just a great place to visit—it's an ideal place to live. Local school systems are top-notch. Area farmers' markets and vineyards provide local flavor in every sense of the phrase. Zoning laws emphasize restoration over new development. And New York City is just two hours away via car or Metro-North railway, providing easy access for those whose careers or interests require ties to the metropolis.

While Vaccaro Properties will offer real estate holdings across many area towns and villages, currently the focus is on New Paltz, home to the forthcoming Birches project and the cultural hub for surrounding towns like Lloyd, Gardiner, and Ellenville.
